Master in Education with a Specialization in Integrating
Technology in the Classroom
Welcome!
My name is Joanie Rice. This is where you will find the requirements for
Walden University's Online Master of Science in Education with a Specialization in
Integrating Technology in the Classroom Program Outcomes that I have
fulfilled. These requirements must be
met prior to receiving the degree certificate. Attending Walden
http://www.waldenu.edu has been a
challenge, honor and excellent learning experience.
As a Student at Walden University I had the privilege to learn from such
professionals as Mr. Alan November, speaker and "senior partner of November
Learning and author of such material as Beyond technology: The end of
the job and the beginning of digital work. "Mr. November begin his
career as Science and Math teacher" (Corwin Press, 2008).
http://www.corwinpressspeakers.com.
I had the opportunity to have a personal experience with Dr. Howard Gardner.
On the first occasion I tried to reach him by phone. We kept missing
each other's calls. He then had his aide reach me via e-mail to relay his
thoughts on "bridging." This was an honor that occurred during the course
6615 "Effective Teaching Using Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences,"
and while reading such material of his as Reflections on Multiple
Intelligences: Myths and Messages.
Dr. David Thornburg who makes his beliefs known about how
"standardized tests freeze the perception of learning as the acquisition of
isolated facts that can be unambiguously answered through a multiple choice
question" http://www.tcpd.org.
Kathy Schrock taught a multitude of information about the successful
strategies and how to critically evaluate the Internet, and healthy use of the internet. I
acquired and used a wealth of information and resources from her site
Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators,
http://school.discoveryeducation.com/schrockguide/
On this site you will find
five General Standards and six Specialization
Standard areas with performance indicators.
Work is included from the degree program
which demonstrates evidence that I have met
each of the outcomes that are listed under each standard. For each outcome I
have created a rationale statement that explains why the work I chose
to submit demonstrates that I have met the required outcome. That work is listed
under artifacts.
Samples of
student work is also included on this site as evidence
of meeting outcomes. Links to student work samples are listed under
artifacts. The work indicates
outcomes from hands on teaching and learning experiences learned in the classroom while integrating
course resources.
An
Integrative Essay is
included that charts my intellect and the progress I have made as an M.S. in
Education student with a Specialization in Integrating Technology in the
Classroom. The course included five semesters of work. The integrative essay
is an indication of that growth. It recognizes my intellectual and
pedagogical position as I prepared to accept the degree of Master of Science
in Education.
Thank you for visiting this site and I hope what you read will be
beneficial. If there are comments and questions about this site
please submit them via e-mail to
jrsportfolio@yahoo.com. I encourage safe and healthy
use of technology. Please use proper ethics while visiting this site.
